Hi! I'm Betül ✌🏻
I was once a medical student, but after four years of studying medicine, I shifted my focus from diagnosing diseases to diagnosing usability issues.

The skills I developed in medical school, such as asking the right questions, applying research methodologies, and defining problems accurately, are the same skills I now use in UX research.

This curiosity makes working on design projects enjoyable as a designer and drives me to explore the aspects of research that I love the most as a UX researcher.

DESIGN SPECIALIST

08/2021- PRESENT
ISTANBUL
As a UX researcher, I conduct usability tests and write expert reviews or competitive benchmark analyses to evaluate our web and mobile products. While I personally run usability tests, the majority of my work involves preparing and planning research studies conducted by external agencies. I also take an active role in communicating research findings to internal teams and ensuring they are effectively translated into actionable improvements.

Beyond delivering insights, I closely track the implementation of research-driven changes, following them through until they go live. Additionally, I restructure
information architecture and create wireframes, from low to high fidelity, as part of the UX design process. I also lead our long-term user research strategy, collaborating with external research teams to align research efforts with business needs.

ISTANBUL

I participated in an international UX research project for Vodafone Turkey, focusing on Super Apps. My role included conducting a comprehensive literature review, analyzing over 30 academic papers to extract relevant insights, and actively participating in user interviews with local users to explore app flows and usability issues. We benchmarked international Super Apps like WeChat, AliPay, GoJek, and Grab to compare user experiences.

Although I was not the moderator, I contributed in live sessions, taking detailed notes, providing real-time input to guide the moderator in asking additional questions, and assisting with Russian-language interfaces when needed. Additionally, I contributed to preparing the final presentation of research findings delivered to Vodafone Turkey. The insights gathered from this project played a key role in shaping Vodafone’s current mobile app.

This experience strengthened my ability to work with international users, apply diverse research methods, and effectively communicate findings to inform product strategy.
